On January 30th, 2014 from 10am to 12pm at the Alameda County Family Justice Center, BAWAR will receive the Director’s Community Leadership Award (DCLA) from FBI San Francisco for the work of its SEM program. This award is for the work done in the community to combat sex trafficking of minors and adults. BAWAR is one of 56 agencies nationwide to be recognized for their hard work to combat sex trafficking in Oakland and Alameda County. The director of the SEM program, Pat Mims, will be flown to the FBI headquarters in Washington, D.C. in April to participate in a formal ceremony to acknowledge BAWAR’s work. This award could not have been accomplished without our numerous community partners, Oakland Unite, Cross Bay Collaborative, law enforcement, the district attorney’s office, and concerned citizens.
