“Special Operations” are undercover stings held by law enforcement to specifically target and identify the CSEC population and adults who are suspected of being exploited and trafficked. These types of Operations take place in a number of different settings – motels, massage parlors, residential, and street operations where exploitation and trafficking occur. Upon understanding the need for trauma-informed services to be immediately present and available for detained victims, local law enforcement established a victim-centered collaboration with BAWAR’s SEM Program. SEM Program advocates are immediately on scene to provide food, water, and clothing. The advocates primary objective is the mental safety and stability of the victim. Services are provided to both minors and adults detained during “Special Operations”.
